on the AustralianSuper
Corporate Triathalon

The weather turned it on for our three teams who competed in the AustralianSuper Corporate Triathalon Series last Sunday. We look forward to seeing this become an annual event on the David Lock Associates' social calendar.

We'd also like to extend our thanks to Sean Stephens from Essential Economics who filled one of the swim legs.

ADB’S GREEEN CITIES
REGIONAL CONFERENCE

Senior Urban Designer Jessica Christiansen recently represented David Lock Associates at the Regional Conference and workshop on ‘Enabling GREEEN Cities: a Sustainable Urban Future for Southeast Asia’ in Manila hosted by the Asian Development Bank.

New zones affecting housing
diversity and affordability

David Lock Associates has joined with a group of industry professionals to make a submission to the Residential Zones Standing Advisory Committee set up by the Victorian government.

Issues related to the proposed application of the proposed zones by many councils were highlighted in a letter from 35 industry professionals featured in The Age.

Grattan Institute Report
on Flexible Suburbs

DLA staff attended a seminar facilitated by the Grattan Institute focusing on their most recent report ‘Tomorrow's Suburbs: Building Flexible Neighbourhoods'. The seminar provided an opportunity to hear from one of the authors, Jane-Frances Kelly as well as Andrew Whitson, General Manager – Residential Development Victoria of Stockland.

Melbourne Marathon 2012

A number of DLA staff members have pulled out the trainers from the back of the closet and are in training to participate in the ‘Back to the G’ Melbourne Marathon Festival on Sunday 14th October 2012. Staff will participate in the 5.7km run and have the opportunity to cross the finish line on the grass of the famous MCG.

This month, staff from DLA attended the International Urban Design Conference (IUDC) in Melbourne. Held over three days, the conference showcased a range of keynote speakers presenting innovative ideas from within the industry, as well as insights from other related industries.

Yorta Yorta Nation Aboriginal Corporation Update

David Lock Associates’ partnership with the Yorta Yorta Nation Aboriginal Corporation (through Engineers Without Borders) has been bolstered by the appointment of 3 new Yorta Yorta staff.  Shane Charles, Aretha Briggs and Neil Morris have joined the partnership and bring with them a wealth of knowledge and experience (not to mention a cracking sense of humour) which has reinvigorated the partnership’s enthusiasm and commitment.
