Making a mark
Our Sydney office has turned one and what a year it has been!
We have diversified our project base and are now actively involved in a range of schemes including industrial lands, residential, aged care and integrated transport and land use.
Our networking efforts have introduced us to many interesting people, including new clients, sub-consultants and like-minded peers.
One of the most notable project successes was winning the joint bid for the Parramatta Road Revitalisation Project (WestConnex Urban Revitalisation Project), in collaboration with Hill PDA and Aecom. David Lock Associates delivered the land use planning component of the project with the ultimate deliverable being an Integrated Transport and Land Use Structure Plan for the 33km road corridor.
The WestConnex Urban Revitalisation Project is one of the NSW Government’s key infrastructure projects and the largest integrated transport and urban revitalisation project in Australia. The project has the potential to create up to 25,000 new homes and 25,000 new jobs over the next 20 years. The value of new homes and businesses is expected to exceed $12 billion.
An exciting piece of work currently underway is an Urban Design Audit for Camden Council. This project is timely given the increasing growth pressure the municipality faces, heightened by the infrastructure expected to be delivered in this region in the near future. The pressure for growth needs to be appropriately managed across the vastly different identities and characteristics of the LGA. We are looking forward to working with Camden Council and delivering a robust framework that Council can put into practice.
We’re continuing to build upon our reputation as ‘thought leaders’ and are actively involved in the PCA Industrial Committee – offering insights into the headline issues associated with the recently announced Badgerys Creek airport and associated infrastructure development in this immediate precinct and the surrounding region.
Similarly, our Sydney team are members of PIA’s Young Planners Committee and regularly attend meetings and panel discussions canvassing pertinent planning issues affecting Sydney and its related regulatory system.
David Lock Associates has also hosted a number of networking lunches which provide an invaluable forum for like-minded professionals to get together in a social setting and share knowledge on the latest industry news. We look forward to holding more of these in the future and coming together on future projects.
It has been an interesting year and we plan to build on the momentum. Watch this space.
