Urban Inspirations - ‘Age Friendly Cities’

David Lock Associates welcomed a number of clients and collaborators for the first in a series of talks 'Urban Inspirations'.

Tamara Lowen presented work done to date on 'Age Friendly Cities: An indicator of access to services for older people.'

Tamara discussed what she had done on her thesis and subsequent work to date. The aim of the overall project was to produce an indicator of access to services for older people to facilitate informed, engaged and integrated decision making for policy makers and communities. Insights included an understanding of what creates an ‘age friendly city’ and barriers to participationg for older people.  The indicator also shed light on areas that were better or worse off than other areas in Victoria. It was interesting for those in attendance to see how this research links into what they do and the implications for planning.

If you would like any further information on planning age friendly cities please contact Tamara Lowen.

The next talk in the series will be given by Erin Saunders who will discuss the NSW White Paper in October. If you are interested in attending this or any future talks please contact Kathryn Cuddihy.
