CURRENT PROJECTS
SOME OF OUR CURRENT PROJECTS INCLUDE:
ALKIMOS EGLINTON – EGLINTON ESTATES (PERTH)
Strategic planning and urban design advice for the planning of a 2600ha growth area in Perth’s northwest corridor. The plan is structured around a series of reailway stations and key activiity nodes linked together by an intermediate transit system. It also seeks to exploit the spectacular coastal setting of the development to create a unique identity for the future community.
SHEPPARTON HOUSING STRATEGY
Provision of baseline information for the development of the Greater Shepparton Housing Strategy through the use of GIS software to obtain detailed land use information about the City of Greater Shepparton’s residential areas. Average parcel size, zone utilisation rates, and community assets buffer analysis are just some of the spatial analysis techniques used in developing the strategy. GIS technology was used to efficiently document existing conditions and manage complex information across a large and diverse municipality.
CLAUSE 56 WALKABILITY TOOLKIT
Creating environments that enable more people to walk more often is perhaps one of the most direct ways that we can plan for health and wellbeing. DLA won the commission to identify what walkability is and how it can be embodied in emerging communities as part of the Victorian Planning Provisions overall goal of creating liveable and sustainable communities. The toolkit provides a compelling description of the characteristics of a walkable environment and an easy to use set of guidelines that allow these characteristics to be built into proposed developments.
LEOPOLD COMMUNITY HUB
The township of Leopold is located on the Bellarine Penisula, over the past few decades the rural community has expanded rapidly as a satellite suburb of Geelong but this expansion has occurred in a relatively unco-ordinated way and has not been matched by provision of social infrastructure. Following on from previous work undertaken to establish the needs of the community, DLA was appointed by Council to lead the development of a shared vision between the stakeholders and the community and turn that into an implementable concept plan for the hub.
DLA prepared a concept plan for an integrated community hub on a Council parcel of land adjacent to the Leopold Primary School. This project articulates a concept plan for the hub that seeks to meet the provisions of Council’s brief, fulfill Leopold’s social infrastructure requirements, respond to the community’s hopes and concerns, and reflect the highest standards of planning and design. The final report will form part of an architect’s brief to undertake the detailed design of the hub to ensure that the resulting built form and landscape embodies the necessary qualities to meet these objectives.
