443 Upper Heidelberg Road

Location

Ivanhoe

Client

Caydon

David Lock Associates recently provided urban design advice to Caydon for a fourteen storey mixed-use development at 443 Upper Heidelberg Road Ivanhoe, consisting of private dwellings, serviced accommodation, office space and retailers. The development is situated opposite the Austin Hospital, in the ‘Burgundy Hill’ precinct.

The site is located on one of the most prominent locations in the inner north-east and was recently included in the 'Ivanhoe' suburb boundary. The site itself had specific planning controls.

David Lock Associates was engaged after a previous tower of 26 storeys (80 metres) drew significant opposition from the community and was rejected. The new design, which is designed by architect Fender Katsilidis, has been reduced by 12 storeys.

The development was mediated at VCAT and approved by Banyule City Council at their Council meeting on 5 October 2015. We look forward to seeing this project take shape.
