North Ryde Station
Transport for NSW
The North Ryde Station Precinct Project (NRSPP) is the first Urban Activation Precinct (UAP) to be rolled out under the Department of Planning and Infrastructure’s recently released program of urban renewal.
The project involves the rezoning and redevelopment of almost 14 hectares of largely government-owned land around North Ryde Station for a mix of residential, commercial, retail and community uses. David Lock Associates provided the project manager and lead planner for this pioneering project for Transport NSW which proposes almost 3,000 new dwellings, including 4% affordable housing in the rapidly growing Macquarie Park corridor.
With towers up to 30 storeys in height, the project is unprecedented in the area and required the input of eight separate multi-disciplinary consultancies under our leadership to deliver the required urban planning inputs to the master planning, design and approvals process.
As a Transport for NSW initiative, the project aimed to deliver a true transit-oriented development (TOD) with requisite densities and innovative parking schemes to support this development typology. The project is widely considered to be the most significant urban renewal project in Sydney and is currently with Urbangrowth NSW for delivery.
