Planning Approval Gained
FOR PIER ONE DRIVE,

David Lock Associates' town planning team recently helped Cavendish Properties gain a planning approval for a six storey apartment building containing 72 apartments at the corner of Pier One Drive and McLeod Road, Patterson Lakes, Victoria. The building has been designed by John Demos Architects, and has been designed to set a new benchmark for apartment living in Patterson Lakes.

David Lock Associates was engaged after lodgement of the application, after the application had stalled following initial concerns raised by Council planners. The site had a number of constraints around inundation and a high water table which dictated that a podium car park be used instead of a basement car park.

Our approach involved a coordinated and targeted negotiation with key Council departments and Council planning officers to consolidate and respond directly to all issues raised in order to move the application past the initial barriers. Amendments to the application were agreed, submitted and publicly advertised. Following public notification, we worked with the client to liaise directly with key objectors to address their concerns and minimise potential for objector appeals to VCAT.

The Planning Approval was granted by the City of Kingston in June. Apartments will be on sale shortly. We look forward to seeing this project take shape.
