Viatele Structure Plan
Planning and Urban Management Agency (PUMA), Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment
The Viatele Structure Plan has been prepared for Viatele, a non-traditional village in the peri-urban area of Apia. Viatele comprises three villages: Viatele Tai, Viatele Uta and Viatele Fou. The Structure Plan applies to land in all three villages.
The Viatele Structure Plan is a requirement of the Viatele Urban Governance Pilot Project for the Government of Samoa and the project sponsors the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
David Lock Associates worked in collaboration with Planning and Urban Management Agency (PUMA) and the
Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to deliver a robust Structure Plan to anticipate the medium-long term development and direct future land use.
The Structure Plan is the preliminary spatial planning phase in the preparation of an ultimate Sustainable Management Plan (SMP) for Viatele. The Structure Plan will be implemented through the Viatele SMP.
